horizon line
A horizon line is a fixed line on a painting that controls the viewer's perspective of the painting. It is used to indicate distances to objects in the painting. It is indicated by a horizontal line that runs parallel to the horizon. It allows the artist to create a higher probability of realistic depiction of objects. The horizon line gives the viewer an idea of his location in relation to the scene.
It is an easy matter to see the horizon when you stand on an open space where the sky and the land meet. However, when you kneel down, the horizon line increases.
When creating a piece of art and placing your horizon line, ask yourself: What angle best suits my subject?

Eye level is crucial for viewing objects from a certain height. To determine it, it is first necessary to draw the horizontal line. So if you want to draw an object from below, then you have to draw the object above the horizon line. It is very good to experiment with the "eye level" to create a very special work of art.
The 3 Perspectives
There are three different perspectives in art that can be used for different purposes. There is the 1-point perspective, the 2-point perspective and the 3-point perspective. They differ in the number of their vanishing points. The vanishing points are always drawn on the horizon line, except in the three-point perspective. By using them, you can correctly represent the desired distance to the object.

1-point perspective: This method has only one vanishing point and everything leads to this one point. Central perspective is usually the simplest form of linear perspective and is used to represent spaces.

2-point perspective: This method has two vanishing points. A characteristic of this perspective is that all vanishing lines run parallel to the horizon. It is used to draw the outside of buildings.

3-point perspective: By adding a third vanishing point above or below the horizon line/eye level (2-point perspective), you can get the viewer to look at an object from the top (=bird's eye view) or bottom (=worm's eye view) side.
